Hallmarks On Our Jewelry.
All jewelry made in the Czech Republic from precious metals must be marked with the appropriate hallmark that characterizes the precious metal. This is the easiest way to recognize and confirm the material used and its authenticity.
Already in the past, gold was called a lion, and animal pictograms are still used today. The hallmark on jewelry doesn’t have to be just one. In addition to the Czech national hallmark, which uses animal portraits, there is also a hallmark. Then there are the responsibility and production brands. Every goldsmith who is registered with the Czech Hallmarking Office has these marks differently.
In addition to the animal marked by the hallmarking office, a number is also embossed on the jewelry. This purity stamp is the most common. It also shows the layman what metal the jewelry is made of. The number 925 denotes sterling silver intended for the production of jewelry, you can recognize gold by the numbers 585 and 750. The higher the number, the higher the proportion of gold in the alloy. Platinum under number 950 is one of the highest quality raw materials.
The Czech state hallmark is the main hallmark. An animal from the profile is depicted here – for gold it is an eagle, a rooster, and a swan, for silver it is a chamois and a hare. Platinum is called the royal crown. The various purities of the material are further specified by the shape of the label on which the animal is depicted.
The mission of the hallmarking office is to perform hallmarking control and related activities. A letter is added to the state hallmark, indicating the individual hallmarking offices in the Czech Republic.
Another feature is the responsibility mark, which the importer guarantees the correctness of the said hallmarks. Each goldsmith has his own mark, registered by the hallmarking office, usually two to three letters on different shapes of the plate. If you have a brand on your jewelry, also consisting of two to three letters on the plate, it means that the whole jewelry was created under the name of this company. The goldsmith ensures the embossing of the responsibility and production brand on the jewelry himself.
The company Milan Jiříček stamps on each manufactured product a mark of purity, corresponding to the given metal, then the production mark, and everything is confirmed by the mark of the hallmarking office, confirming the quality of the material for jewelry according to the ordered weights.
